New specs!
arne December 14th, 2006I finally went and had my eyes examined today, for the first time in at least two years. Probably three to four. My prescription didn’t change significantly, and in fact one eye improved slightly. Odd. I bought a sweet new pair of glasses which, unfortunately, won’t be ready for 3-5 days, which translates to after Christmas for me as I’ll be gone next week. They’re matte black, rectangular with rounded corners, made with some really cool flexible metal. Emma gave me an old pair of frames of hers, so I also ordered new lenses for those. They’re very much like my current pair, oval and gold/bronze-colored. Like my new glasses, though, they’re made of the cool, flexible metal. I’m pretty stoked, which is totally lame, I know.
Work is still showing progress, which makes me very happy. I’m not going to believe that this is working until we’re done, but I’m very cautiously optimistic. I actually have enough data to make two figures for our current grant application!
Emma and I, social butterflies that we are, have four parties to attend in the next two days. Tomorrow night is a party for the residents in her program, hosted by one of the faculty. Then, on Saturday, we have her departmental party, my departmental party, and a party for a friend who is leaving Gainesville. She’s heading home to Scotland (I think), which is probably good for her but sucks for us. I wish I had spent more time with her, because I think she’s very interesting. Oh well. I’ll try to be good about emailing. Plus, nice excuse to visit Scotland, eh?
Enough for now. I’m going to go crash.
